Day 14 – 30 days: get 8 hours of sleep

Today has been day 14 of my challenge to get 8 hours of sleep for 30 days straight.

Every day I’ll share my FitBit Surge sleep data.

Aside from that, I want to document how I’m doing in terms of changing my habits:

  • No more screens, from 1 hour before bedtime.
  • Go for a 15 minute walk during the day.
  • No coffee after noon.
  • Use my thoughts to get to a place of gratitude before I go to sleep and when I wake up.

Day 14: 6hrs 14min

I did not reach my goal.

Last night, I was supposed to have a freelance meeting but it got cancelled so I found myself with some free time. I decided I would go to the cinema and watch a movie to give myself a break.

I went to see the movie Spy, a comedy movie. Hilarious! I enjoyed myself watching it and munching down some nachos and M&M’s. That typical cinema junk food.

So I got back late after midnight, so way too late to make 8 hours.

But I was able to really enjoy the movie and laugh out loud which I believe is extremely healthy as well.

No more screens, 1 hour before bedtime

I did not reach my goal.

Like I said before, I went to the movies and laughed my ass off, kind of right before bed.

Go for a 15 minute walk

I reached my goal.

Thanks to my FitBit for showing me this, because to be honest… I don’t even recall exactly how my walk was and with whom. But apparently I was active so I must have gone on that walk, lol. I believe I was present at the time, but I just can’t seem to recall any details. Weird! Maybe a sign of an overstimulated brain?

Right back in the saddle with this one, y’all.

Be in a place of gratitude

I did not reach my goal.

As I was watching a movie, I was just “keeping my brain busy’. No time was made for listening to my own thoughts or just being with myself, whatever that may be.

I did go for a short walk outside, when I got home, but I was still all over the place.

I document my journey to living a free life. I share the good, the bad and the ugly parts of that journey with you. Because I believe we need less guru's and more authenticity in the world.
