Today has been day 15 of my challenge to get 8 hours of sleep for 30 days straight.
Every day I’ll share my FitBit Surge sleep data.
Aside from that, I want to document how I’m doing in terms of changing my habits:
- No more screens, from 1 hour before bedtime.
- Go for a 15 minute walk during the day.
- No coffee after noon.
- Use my thoughts to get to a place of gratitude before I go to sleep and when I wake up.
Day 15: 8hrs 52min
I reached my goal.
After a day of work, I drove from Belgium to Holland to get a haircut and pick up my sister, back to Belgium to pack my suitcase and off to Holland again to go to my brother’s house close to Eindhoven Airport.
We arrived late at night at around 11PM and I was so tired I went straight to bed.
I was able to sleep in a little bit because I did not have to go to work.
I was woken up by the voices of my brother’s kids and my sister, about an hour before I really got out of bed.
I did not mind 🙂

No more screens, 1 hour before bedtime
I did not reach my goal.
I was talking on whatsapp and I think I even scrolled over Facebook when I was laying in bed. Like I said : when the daily routine changes, my habits are challenged. Also sometimes it is actually a blessing that I am able to be in touch with someone I love through this modern technology.
Go for a 15 minute walk
I reached my goal.
I went for a quick round around the block during lunch brake at work with a colleague.

No coffee after noon
I reached my goal.
Especially when the daily routine changes and I was driving all over the place and getting my suitcase I felt the craving for an espresso (I could have taken one at the gas station but decided I would not.)
Be in a place of gratitude
I did not reach my goal.
I did not take a moment to really get my thoughts straight. I was tired after a long drive and was arranging my bed in the guest room and just crashed. I guess I was being pretty present but not really thinking about what I am thankful for.
