Today has been day 19 of my challenge to get 8 hours of sleep for 30 days straight. Every day I’ll share my FitBit Surge sleep data. Aside from that, I want to document how I’m doing in terms of changing my habits:
- No more screens, from 1 hour before bedtime.
- Go for a 15 minute walk during the day.
- No coffee after noon.
- Use my thoughts to get to a place of gratitude before I go to sleep and when I wake up.
Day 19: 7hrs 40min
I did not reach my goal.
The day after the wedding.
I woke up tired, was pretty much tired all day and went to sleep a little before midnight and woke up at 7:30 and snoozed till 8 while my sisters were taking their turns using the shower.
Obviously, as you can see it is still a super restless night with 32 minutes of restless time.
No more screens, 1 hour before bedtime
I reached my goal.
I went to dinner with my sister, walked back to our apartment and sat down, talked, laughed about inside jokes and went to sleep without being able to read my book. I was just too tired.
Go for a 15 minute walk
I did not reach my goal.
I walked so much but obviously did not take 15 minutes to wander off and just relax.
Look at the craziness going on at night though, when I was dancing at the wedding!
I don’t think I even move that intense when I’m at soccer practice, lol!

No coffee after noon
I did not reach my goal.
I was fighting to stay awake sometimes during the day and had a cup of espresso in the afternoon to keep me going when we were strolling down the streets of Budapest.

Be in a place of gratitude
I did not reach my goal.
Again, no conscious effort at night.
However, I went to sleep shortly after laughing my ass off in bed.
We were having too much fun because of some inside jokes.
I can’t explain, but you know those times..
So that was definitely a fun way to end the day.
