Today has been day 9 of my challenge to get 8 hours of sleep for 30 days straight.
Every day I’ll share my FitBit Surge sleep data.
Aside from that, I want to document how I’m doing in terms of changing my habits:
- No more screens, from 1 hour before bedtime.
- Go for a 15 minute walk during the day.
- No coffee after noon.
- Use my thoughts to get to a place of gratitude before I go to sleep and when I wake up.
Day 9: 7hrs 39min
I failed to get 8 hours of sleep.
I also woke up in the middle of the night, as you can see by the blue and pink bars in the middle of my sleep chart. I remember as I was looking for my covers and was bothered by a mosquito.
I went out to walk outside at 10:30PM after writing yesterdays blog post and took a little longer than I should to have gotten 8 hours of sleep.
No more screens, 1 hour before bedtime
Goal reached?
Aaah, no I have to be honest. I’m very strict. I was writing yesterdays blogpost late at night and only closed my laptop at 10:25PM I think. I went to bed at 11:10 so: almost, but no.
I did go out for a nice slow jog and a walk after that though.
I sat down at the water for a couple of minutes just trying to enjoy the calmness and focussing on breathing right.
Go for a 15 minute walk
Goal reached?
No. I skipped my walk because I was in a hurry to get to a client meeting.
I told myself I was too busy to be able to go out for a walk.
I was still sending out emails, the minute before I left so I I felt like I really had no time.
I believe it is a matter of planning and setting boundaries, but sometimes I’m not doing that right.
How was it?
So the usual walking time was filled with driving to a client so it was a totally different experience. I didn’t notice that I was not walking because my whole lunch routine was different this day.
No coffee after noon
Goal reached?
Yes.
How was it?
Good, I only got an espresso at the train station in the early morning. Hmmmmm 🙂
Be in a place of gratitude
