Day 23 – 30 days: get 8 hours of sleep

Yo, I just wrote this, and this is crazy. But here’s my blog post. So read it maybe.

Today has been day 23 of my challenge to get 8 hours of sleep for 30 days straight.

Only 4 hours of sleep. Feeling the lack of sleep manifest in physical illness. The reason for going to sleep this late though is amazing. I can’t tell you yet, but stay tuned for the next two weeks will be pretty cray cray.

Every day I’ll share my FitBit Surge sleep data. Aside from that, I want to document how I’m doing in terms of changing my habits:

  • No more screens, from 1 hour before bedtime.
  • Go for a 15 minute walk during the day.
  • No coffee after noon.
  • Use my thoughts to get to a place of gratitude before I go to sleep and when I wake up.

Day 23: 4hrs 43min

I did not reach my goal.

Getting up after yesterday’s only 6 hours of sleep, a looooong day started.

I went to sleep well after midnight after a huge conversation after work that lasted until a little after midnight.

I’m starting to get a little mysterious here because I can’t share the details yet, but I will soon (max 2 weeks, I think).

It will be big.

Since yesterday, I’m feeling a sore throat coming up which has worsened today after only 4hrs of sleep. Also, my skin on my face has become worse since this lack of sleep. It’s showing spots and errythang. Very closely related to the intensity of my days and the lack of sleep. I’m sure it will return to a healthy skin when I decide to sleep enough, eat well and exercise.

No more screens, 1 hour before bedtime

I  did not reach my goal.

I was up chatting on WhatsApp and Google Hangouts right before going to bed. I also balanced out with listening to Jake and Amir’s podcast If I Were You. Super funny by the way.

Go for a 15 minute walk

I did not reach my goal.

I did go for my usual lunch break walk, but this time I had an agenda because I wanted to discuss something important with two of my colleagues… Mhmmmm… #staytuned

So I don’t count it towards a relaxing walk.

No coffee after noon

I reached my goal.

Pretty normal to me.

Be in a place of gratitude

I did not reach my goal.

I’m just reading what I wrote yesterday which is that I was all over the place.

That hasn’t changed, lol!

However yesterday I wrote: tired, inspired and chaotic. The first two words have both become a LOT stronger, and “chaotic” is slowly changing into: “with direction” 🙂
